Overview

We strictly use secure protocols (https) throughout this website to ensure that any data entered is kept secure via. encryption.

At the time of writing there are two methods of collecting data on theweddingpianist.co.uk, either explicitly by your input or automatically from your internet browser. These are: Google Analytics (software used to gain insights in to how a website is performing) and the Enquiry form (e.g. the form used in the website’s footer and on the Contact page) used by customers to provide information to Benjamin in order to start a conversation. The following literature deals primarily with these two methods of collecting data and how they may affect you.

What information is being collected?

theweddingpianist.co.uk saves only the bare minimum of information from your browser. We have taken lengths to strip away any personally identifiable information such as ensuring that your IP address is not stored as part of Google Analytics’ data. Information entered through this website (e.g. the Enquiry Form) is sent directly to Benjamin Clarke and not shared with any third parties or stored within an online file system or database.

Who is collecting it?

theweddingpianist.co.uk sends non-personally identifiable information to Google’s servers, to utilise their web analysis tools. Information entered through the Enquiry form is collected in Benjamin’s email inbox.

How is it collected?

Your browser sends web session data to Google via. javascript. This script is included on every page of the website. Information entered in to the Enquiry form is sent to Benjamin’s email address directly, via. a secure server-side PHP script.

How will it be used?

Information collected via. Google Analytics will be used to measure the performance of pages on this website. Using this data, Benjamin and his carefully chosen suppliers can make changes to the website in order to offer an optimum experience. Information collected through the Enquiry form is used by Benjamin (only) to engage directly with website visitors.

Who will it be shared with?

Any personally identifiable information has been removed from the data sent to Google Analytics. Information collected by Google Analytics’ script will be automatically deleted after 14 months (the minimum possible at time of writing). Information collected through the Enquiry form is never shared with any third party beyond Benjamin without explicit request/permission from the user.

What will be the effect of this on the individuals concerned?

Google may use your information to provide you with a more personalised online experience, e.g. through tailored ads (we don’t show ads on theweddingpianist.co.uk). Information collected by Google Analytics doesn’t contain any personally identifiable information, nor is it kept on record beyond 14 months and therefor will have little/no effect upon you, personally. Information collected via. the Enquiry form will only be used for Benjamin to contact you personally.

Is the intended use likely to cause individuals to object or complain?

No. After reading Google’s privacy statement and taking note of their ongoing commitment to protecting users from misuse of their personally identifiable information, in line with best practises and GDPR, we believe that individuals should feel safe using our website. However, we would certainly welcome any comment regarding your online anonymity, especially if we can play a role in helping to protect you.
